Heron Islands


Heron Islands (53˚36'00" 130˚34'00" In approach to Griffith Hbr, NW end of Banks I), Heron Rock (50˚27'00" 128˚02'00" S of Kains I, Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). Named in 1926–27 after Arthur Heron, who was a boatswain aboard the survey vessel Lillooet and had been employed on the W coast by the hydrographic service since 1913. He also served as a boatswain on CGS Restless during the survey of Quatsino Sd, 1920–21.
