Haydon Rock


Haydon Rock (52˚09'00" 131˚02'00" E entrance to Houston Stewart Channel, S of Moresby I, QCI). George Inskip, master of HMS Virago, made a survey of Houston Stewart Channel in 1853. The ship’s capt, Cdr James Prevost, named this feature after his acting 2nd master, Charles Haydon (d 1866), who retired from the RN with the rank of master.
