Hastings Island


Hastings Island (52˚38'00" 128˚46'00" Entrance to Laredo Inlet, Princess Royal I). Named in 1927 for Oregon Columbus Hastings (1846–1912), born in Illinois, who came to Canada in 1875. His father, Loren Hastings, crossed N America on the Oregon Trail, participated in the California gold rush and settled at Port Townsend, becoming a member of the Washington legislature.
