Hastings Arm


Hastings Arm (55˚31'00" 129˚46'00" NW arm of Observatory Inlet, S of Stewart). Rear Adm George Fowler Hastings, CB (1814–76), was cdr-in-chief of the RN’s Pacific Station, based at Esquimalt, 1866–69. His flagship was HMS Zealous, under Capt Richard Dawkins. Hastings established Esquimalt’s RN cemetery in 1867.
