Haro Island


Haro Island (50˚19'00" 125˚17'00" Okisollo Channel, S of Sonora I, N of Campbell R). The historic tug Haro was built at Hastings Mill, Vancouver, in 1910 by master shipwright A C Macdonald. Licensed for 12 passengers, the 211-tonne, 32-m vessel towed numerous log booms through the tricky waterways at the N end of the Str of Georgia for BC Mills Timber & Trading Co, the province’s largest lumber manufacturer at the time.
