Hansen Point


Hansen Point (52˚29'00" 127˚52'00" S side of Roscoe Inlet, NE of Bella Bella). Believed to be named after one of the Norwegian colonists at Bella Coola in the late 1800s. There were several early Hansens in the valley, however, who also sometimes anglicized their common Scandinavian surname, spelling it Hanson. For instance, Olai Hanson, H O Hanson, Sigrid Hanson and L W Hanson were all recorded on an early list of colonists compiled by Hagen Christensen, the colony’s secretary and a valley...
