Hackett Bay


Hackett Bay (50˚11'00" 127˚50'00" W side of Brooks Peninsula, NW Vancouver I), Hackett Island (50˚11'00" 127˚52'00" SW of Orchard Point, Brooks Bay, off Brooks Peninsula). Charles Hackett (b 1849), from N Sydney, NS, arrived at Victoria in 1889 to participate in the sealing industry. He was skipper and owner of the successful sealing schooners Annie C Moore and Libbie, and in the mid-1890s established a store at Ahousat, on Clayoquot Sd, where he produced barrels of smoked codfish.
