Frances Rock


Frances Rock (52˚27'00" 129˚20'00" SE of Conroy I, off W side of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Named in 1927 by regional hydrographer Henri Parizeau after Frances Steele, wife of Alexander Johnston, deputy minister of Marine and Fisheries in the federal government, 1910–33. Johnston was a former Cape Breton newspaper publisher, MLA and MP (see Mt Johnston). Nearby Steele Rk is also named for her.
