Foster Island


Foster Island (50˚42'00" 126˚50'00" Between Salmon Channel and George Passage, E end of Queen Charlotte Str). Maj George F Foster, a retired British Army officer, came to Victoria in 1859 and bought property on Esquimalt Hbr. He was named to Vancouver I’s colonial legislative assembly of 1860–64, during which period he opposed the government of James Douglas and made controversial attempts to restrict borrowing and reduce the selling price of Crown land.
