Fairchild Point


Fairchild Point (53˚03'00" 129˚37'00" S tip of Trutch I, Estevan Group, SE of Banks I). Named after an unknown model of Fairchild aircraft, which made the first photo flights over this area, probably in the 1930s. The Fairchild Aviation Corp was a US company, formed in 1925, that got its start manufacturing planes for aerial photography and went on to produce trainers, cargo planes and weapons during WWII. A Canadian subsidiary built several bush plane models designed for work in wilderness...
