Evans Inlet


Evans Inlet (52˚06'00" 127˚47'00" W side of King I, E of Denny I and Bella Bella). Septimus Evans was RN surgeon in 1868–70 aboard the Beaver, which was hired from the HBC for survey duties. He joined the paddleship from HMS Scout, where he had been assistant surgeon. Later Evans served on HMS Doris, 1874–76, as surgeon. He died in 1881 when the magazine on HMS Doterel exploded in the Strs of Magellan, killing 143 crew members. Originally named Evans Arm by Lt Daniel Pender of the Beaver...
