Eussen Rock


Eussen Rock (48˚55'00" 125˚16'00" N of Dempster I in the Broken Group, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Fr Louis Eussen, born in Limburg province, Netherlands, about 1853, and educated at Louvain College, Belgium, was a Roman Catholic missionary who arrived in BC in 1878. After 18 months in Victoria he replaced Fr Joseph Nicolaye at St Leo’s, the Barkley Sd mission to the Huu-ay-aht (Ohiaht) First Nation on Numukamis Bay, in 1880. He returned to Holland in ill health shortly afterwards...
