Espinosa Inlet


Espinosa Inlet (49˚55'00" 126˚56'00" N of Esperanza Inlet, W of Zeballos Inlet, W side of Vancouver I). José Espinosa y Tello (1763–1815) entered the Spanish Royal Navy in 1778 and studied cartography under Vicente Tofiño at the Cadiz observatory. He was assigned to join the scientific voyage of Alejandro Malaspina and was involved in its preparation but was unable to embark on the expedition because of ill health.
