Ellinor Rock


Ellinor Rock (54˚12'00" 130˚23'00" E of Kinahan Is, just SW of Prince Rupert). Named by federal hydrographer G Blanchard Dodge (see Dodge Cove) in 1906 while surveying the area around Prince Rupert Hbr. The 635-tonne Ellinor was hired by the RN for survey work in eastern Canada in the early 1900s, then moved to the Caribbean in 1912. Dodge had served aboard the vessel as assistant surveying officer, under Capt William Tooker, on the Nfld coast in 1903.
