Egg Island


Egg Island (51˚15'00" 127˚50'00" S entrance to Smith Sd, S of Rivers Inlet). This isolated island is named for its prominent, rounded shape. A lighthouse was built here in 1898 to warn marine traffic headed to and from the Inside Passage of the deadly rocks of Smith Sd. It was a dangerous place to be stationed.
