Edye Point


Edye Point (48˚19'00" 123˚32'00" S side of Pedder Bay, S end of Vancouver I). Capt Adolphus George Edye 
(b 1815) was an RN hydrographer who came up with a number of improvements for marine surveying. He was awarded the silver medal of the Royal Society of Arts for inventing an instrument that registered the inclination and oscillations of a ship. He retired from the RN in 1863 and was appointed justice of the peace for the borough of Devonport. W
