Church Island

Church Island (48˚18'30" 123˚35'10" SE of Becher Bay, off S tip of Vancouver I), Church Point (48˚19'00" 123˚35'00" Between Becher Bay and Whirl Bay). Cdr William Harvey Church was an RN surveying officer, but it is unlikely that he was ever present in BC waters. Both features were named by Capt Henry Kellett of HMS Herald in 1846, while making a survey of Becher Bay. Church Point was originally called Church Cape. Nearby Church Hill is also named for him.
