Bughouse Bay

Bughouse Bay (50˚54'00" 126˚59'00" NW of Broughton I, N side of Drury Inlet, N of Port McNeill). Named in 1958 after a demented settler who occupied a cabin on the shore here. Nearby Bughouse Lk also honours him. Another Bughouse Bay, located on Shushwap Lk, plus Bugcamp Ck in the Kamloops district, suggest that mad pioneers, perhaps deranged by solitude and isolation, were not all that uncommon in BC.
