Bruce Point


Bruce Point (50˚21'00" 125˚19'00" N entrance to Cameleon Hbr, Sonora I, N of Campbell R). John Bruce was 1st lt aboard HMS Cameleon, which was on the Pacific Station, based at Esquimalt, 1863–65, 1867–69 and 1870–74. Many features in Cameleon Hbr were named after officers who served on the vessel in 1863 during the naval pursuit of a First Nation group from Lamalchi Bay on Kuper I, suspected of murdering two Gulf Is settlers (see Lamalchi Bay).
