Brown Bank


Brown Bank (51˚21'00" 127˚51'00" W of Kelp Head, entrance to Fitz Hugh Sd). Named about 1946 by regional hydrographer Henri Parizeau “after a surveyor aboard surveying vessel William J Stewart,” possibly J A Brown, who participated in surveys of the Inside Passage (1946–50) and was officer in charge of CGS Parry (1947–52 and 1962–64). Brown was also officer in charge of CGS Marabell (1953–57), after which he suffered a mild stroke and spent 1957–61 writing sailing directions....
