Bocking Peninsula


Bocking Peninsula (55˚22'00" 129˚47'00" E of Granby Peninsula, Observatory Inlet). Charles S Bocking, born in Missouri in 1876, became gen manager of the Granby Consolidated Mining, Smelting & Power Co in 1925. For 10 years before that he was vice-president of another large mining company, Butte and Superior, in Montana. Granby operated an enormous copper mine and smelter at Anyox on Observatory Inlet, 1912–35, and ran other major copper-producing facilities elsewhere in BC.
