Bloedel


Bloedel (50˚07'00" 125˚23'00" In Menzies Bay, N of Campbell R, E side of Vancouver I). The namesake of this logging camp, terminus of a major railway operation, was Julius Harold Bloedel (1864–1957), a Wisconsin-born lumberman who came to BC in 1911 and formed Bloedel, Stewart & Welch Ltd. In 1951, BS&W merged with the H R MacMillan Export Co to form MacMillan Bloedel Ltd, BC’s largest forestry company.
