Belcher Point


Belcher Point (49˚25'00" 126˚04'00" S side of Shelter Inlet, NE of Flores I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). RN officer Sir Edward Belcher (1799–1877) was born at Halifax, grandson of Jonathan Belcher, who was a lt gov of NS. Edward was assistant surveyor on Frederick Beechey’s Pacific voyages in the 1820s and ’30s.
