Batchelor Point


Batchelor Point (49˚11'00" 123˚55'00" NE point of Protection I, Nanaimo Hbr, off E side of Vancouver I). Named in 1853 by George Inskip, master of HMS Virago and in charge of survey duties. A seaman named Batchelor was apparently a member of the boat crew that sounded Nanaimo Hbr and Departure Bay that year.
