Baker Point


Baker Point (52˚48'00" 129˚13'00" NE side of Aristazabal I). James Baker (1854–1929) was born at London, Ont, and migrated with his parents to Victoria in 1867. His wife, Clara (1848–1902), came to Canada from Germany in 1862. James became a well-established building contractor in the city and is believed to have taken part in the famous Victoria old-timers’ reunion of 1924 (see Adams Bay). Formerly known as Sandspit Point but renamed by the hydrographic service in 1926.
