Baile Island


Baile Island (52˚57'00" 129˚08'00" Entrance to Kiln Bay, Chapple Inlet, W side of Princess Royal I). Unity Theodora Jeffreys Baile was a junior member of the Canadian Hydrographic Service staff in Victoria in the early 1940s. A 1944 proposal to label additional geographic features with her first three names was rejected as injudicious by senior CHS staff in Ottawa, who wanted to see “not more than one feature named after any one person” and nothing named after “[survey vessel] crew...
