Ashdown Island


Ashdown Island (53 ̊04'00" 129 ̊13'00" S of Gil I, W of Princess Royal I). Civil engineer and land surveyor Ashdown Henry Green (1840–1927) was born at London, England, and immigrated to Victoria in 1862, where he was appointed city surveyor. He worked all over BC: in the Selkirk Mtns in 1865 as part of the Columbia R Exploring Party, for the CPR in the early 1870s, on Saltspring I in 1874.
