Annis Point


Annis Point (52 ̊01'00" 130 ̊59'00" E side of Kunghit I off S end of Moresby I, QCI). John Annis was a boatswain on Capt John Kendrick’s first fur-trading voyage to the BC coast aboard the Columbia Rediviva in 1788. In 1789, while trading near Anthony I at the S end of the QCI, Kendrick seized and humiliated Chief Koya, head of the Kunghit Haida, over a pilfering dispute, causing a vengeful Koya to attack other trading vessels and turn the region into a war zone (see Koya Bay).
