VICTORIA COUGARS was originally a professional team playing in the PACIFIC COAST HOCKEY ASSOC under owner, manager and coach Lester PATRICK. Starting as the Aristocrats, the VICTORIA franchise on 3 Jan 1912 hosted the first professional game played west of Ontario and Michigan. The team returned to the league for the 1918–19 season after a 2-year absence and became the Cougars in 1922.
