Vernon, Charles Albert


VERNON, Charles Albert, rancher, business promoter (b 1840, Ireland; d 8 Oct 1906, Victoria). Educated at military college in England, he was an officer in the Lancaster Fusiliers when he resigned his commission to come to Canada with his brother Forbes VERNON to take up land in BC in 1863. After SILVER mining for 2 years, the brothers settled on property near the north end of OKANAGAN LK and developed a ranch at COLDSTREAM.
