SQUIRREL is a forest-dwelling member of the order Rodentia. There are 2 types: tree and ground-dwelling. Ground squirrels hibernate, but bushy-tailed tree species are active year-round. They are energetic little animals that often seem agitated; much of their noisy activity has to do with defending their feeding territories from interlopers.
