SPENCER, Brian "Spinner," hockey player (b 3 Sept 1949, Fort St James; d 2 June 1988, Riviera Beach, FL). His story is one of the most troubling in NHL history. As a young player in the WHL he shuffled from team to team, failing to put up impressive statistics but building a reputation for great strength. In 1969 he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
