Snauq


SNAUQ, or Sun'ahk, was a SQUAMISH Nation village on the east side of Kitsilano Point, looking over what is now FALSE CRK in downtown VANCOUVER. It was one of the last aboriginal villages within city limits. The Squamish received a RESERVE at the site in 1876 but as Vancouver grew, the provincial government pressured the inhabitants to move.
