Sisters of St Ann


SISTERS OF ST ANN is a religious order founded in Montreal in 1850. In 1858, 4 members of the order arrived in VICTORIA to begin teaching and caring for the sick. Eventually the sisters established schools and hospitals across BC and in Alaska. Nuns from the order staffed several residential schools. At its peak in the 1960s the order had about 300 nuns in BC; that number had fallen to 33 by 2016 and the order was divesting itself of many of its assets. In Victoria the sisters founded several...
