Seton Lake


SETON LAKE, 24.3 sq km, is in the COAST MTS west of LILLOOET. Lying 244 m above sea level, it is surrounded by mountains soaring to heights over 2,000 m. It was a link in the DOUGLAS TRAIL, the first overland route used by miners to reach the Interior goldfields (see GOLD RUSHES). As part of this route, BC's first railway was built in 1861, connecting the west end of the lake at SETON PORTAGE with neighbouring ANDERSON LK.
