ROBINSON, J. Lewis, geographer (b 9 July 1918, Leamington, ON; d 19 July 2008, Vancouver). After graduating from Syracuse Univ and Clark Univ in Worcester, MA, he became the federal government's first professional geographer when he was hired by the mines department in 1943.
