Rithet, Robert Paterson


RITHET, Robert Paterson, merchant (b 22 Apr 1844, Cleuchhead, Scotland; d 19 Mar 1919, Victoria). He arrived in BC in 1862 in search of gold (see GOLD RUSH, CARIBOO). After 2 years in the CARIBOO he settled in VICTORIA and went to work for a shipping firm. In 1871 he and J. Andrew Welch, a San Francisco merchant, formed a partnership.
