Porter, Derek


PORTER, Derek, rower (b 2 Nov 1967, Belfast, Northern Ireland). Raised in VICTORIA, he rowed with the Canadian 8s team that won silver medals at the 1990 and 1991 world championships and gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. In 1993 he switched to single sculls and won gold at the world championships, then silver at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. After studying in Ontario to become a chiropractor, he won another gold at the 1999 Pan American Games and returned to BC to pursue his new career...
