Pine Pass


PINE PASS (el 933 m), the portal to the PEACE R country, is a route through the Hart Ranges of the ROCKY MTS 100 km west of CHETWYND. Located by the railway surveyor Joseph Hunter in 1877, it was at one time considered a possible route through the mountains for the CPR. It is the most northerly, and the lowest, of the highway passes through the Rockies and also carries the BC RAIL main line into the Peace district. The Pine R is a major tributary of the Peace.
