McLaren, Thomas Arthur


McLAREN, Thomas Arthur, shipbuilder (b 1919, Montrose, Scotland; d 19 Feb 1999, N Vancouver). His father, William Dick McLaren, was managing director of the Scottish company that built the LADY ALEXANDRA for the UNION STEAMSHIP CO in 1923. The family immigrated to VANCOUVER in 1928. His father managed West Coast Shipbuilders, established in FALSE CRK at the outbreak of WWII. The company built 55 10,000 dwt freighters over a 4-year period.
