Lutheran Church


LUTHERAN CHURCH is a Protestant church founded by Martin Luther in the early 16th century. Considered the "mother church" of Protestantism, it accepts the Bible as the word of God and emphasizes that sinners receive forgiveness from God alone through faith in Jesus Christ. In addition to the Bible, Lutherans look to the Book of Concord (1580) for doctrinal guidance. Local congregations hold the seat of authority.
