LOWTHER, Patricia Louise (Tinmuth) "Pat," poet (b 29 July 1935, Vancouver; d 24 Sept 1975, Vancouver). At age 16 she quit school to work and write. She produced 4 volumes of poetry: This Difficult Flowering (1968), The Age of the Bird (1972), Milk Stone (1974) and A Stone Diary (1977). She was an activist in the NDP and in 1974 served as co-chair of the League of Canadian Poets. She was murdered by her husband Roy, a schoolteacher, who was convicted and later died in prison.
