Longworth

LONGWORTH is a tiny LOGGING and ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) settlement and VIA Rail station on the FRASER R 85 km east of PRINCE GEORGE. Longworth Lumber Co used oxen in its logging operations here as late as the 1930s, and the Berg SAWMILL operated into the 1960s. It was one of the few communities in BC with road access that was still without telephone service at the end of the 20th century.
