HUNT, George, ethnographer, collector (b 14 Feb 1854, Fort Rupert; d Sept 1933, Fort Rupert). His father was an HBC factor at FORT RUPERT; his mother a TLINGIT woman from Alaska. He was raised among the KWAKWAKA'WAKW (Kwakiutl), spoke their language and was married twice, both times to aboriginal women.
