Hungarians


HUNGARIANS began arriving in BC following WWI. Most came not from Hungary itself but from the US and the Canadian prairies, where Hungarians have lived since the 1880s. By 1921 about 400 Hungarians lived in BC, a total that had climbed to more than 2,000 by the outbreak of WWII.
