Henshaw, Julia (Henderson)


HENSHAW, Julia (Henderson), writer (b 1869, Durham, England; d 18 Nov 1937, W Vancouver). After arriving in VANCOUVER in 1890, she worked as an editor and columnist with several city NEWSPAPERS, as well as writing novels (under the name Julia Durham) and 3 books on mountain WILDFLOWERS. She was married to an investment broker, Charles Grant Henshaw, and was a leading member of elite society, but her adventurous spirit took her far beyond the polite confines of tea parties and society balls....
