Harrogate


HARROGATE, on the east side of the COLUMBIA R 50 km southeast of GOLDEN, is a farming (see AGRICULTURE) and LOGGING settlement. It got its start as a roadhouse in the stagecoach era and was named—with a bold eye to the future—after Harrogate, a grand English resort.
