Haney

HANEY is a riverside community on the north side of the FRASER R, in MAPLE RIDGE east of VANCOUVER. It was established by and named for Thomas Haney; he arrived in 1876 and established a successful brickyard that remained in business until 1977. In 1878 he and his wife Annie built Haney House, later opened to the public. Haney, or Port Haney as it was originally called, developed as a commercial centre and then formed the downtown of Maple Ridge.
