DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATON (DERA) is a grassroots community organization in VANCOUVER's historic central core. Formed in 1973 by a group of neighbourhood activists led by Bruce ERIKSEN, the group represents the interests of some of the city's poorest residents, many of them living in the area's hotels and rooming houses.
