BRABANT, Augustin Joseph, Roman Catholic missionary (b 23 Oct 1845, Rolleghem, Belgium; d 1912, Victoria). After studies at the American College of Louvain he was ordained a priest in 1868 and left Europe for BC and a life as a missionary to the NUU-CHAH-NULTH (Nootka) people on the remote west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND.
